The Hungarian doctor died tied to a bed in Romania

Dr. Imre Benedek, a cardiologist and university professor, spoke to the Romanian press about the drama caused by his brother's death. Dr. István Benedek was a recognized doctor in Romania, he performed the first adult bone marrow transplant.

Dr. István Benedek caught the coronavirus and was treated in a Marosvásárhely hospital. According to the family, the doctor died tied to the bed.

"My brother was tied to a bed. The family has a video recording, which shows that he is beside himself, speaking coherently and expressing his opinion, he is firmly asking to be released," Imre Benedek told Antena 3.

"Not only us, but the whole country has lost a valuable person," he added. It is a particularly regrettable factor that both the director of the institution and the doctor who treated him were once students of Doctor Benedek.

“If we had been informed about his condition, we would have taken action. We would have had enough money to send him by helicopter to Vienna or Budapest for treatment. I haven't seen his documentation either," said the brother.
