István Vályi-Nagy, the director general of Dél-pest Centrumkórház, gives very useful advice on this article published on Origo
For a year, our hospital has been dealing almost exclusively with Covid care, he said. – In addition, there are traumatology, hematology and stem cell transplantation departments, oncology and obstetrics and gynecology.
"Young patients tolerate the symptoms much better, so they often don't visit their doctor in time. They are waiting at home for their condition to improve. After a few days, however, the symptoms may be even more severe. Many young infected people arrive at the hospital at such a stage that they immediately go to the intensive care unit," István Vályi-Nagy told Origo. He emphasized: it is very important for people to see a doctor in the early stages of the disease.
Although the body of young people compensates for the lack of oxygen relatively well in the first days, it is possible that a patient with fewer symptoms already has extensive pneumonia. If someone feels that no matter how much they tolerate the unpleasant symptoms, they feel worse and worse, or the fever does not go down, or they have shortness of breath, cough, and it does not improve after 2-3 days, then they should definitely contact the doctor.
According to the director general, Hungary is in a very good position not only in Europe, but also in the world in terms of vaccination coverage. This is due to the fact that the country did not wait for Western vaccines to arrive slowly, but also acquired vaccines from the East - this is how mass immunization could begin.
