Deputy Mayor Gábor Kerpel-Fronius showed his favorite architectural plans for Szent György tér, consisting of concrete blocks. Even his own commentators could only add this much to the plans: it is dramatically horrible.
Budapest's temporary deputy mayor, Gábor Kerpel-Fronius, outlined in a Facebook post how he would imagine the capital's museum development and the restoration of Buda Castle. As an illustration, he presents the plans of the architect Zsófia Csomay for the development of Szent György Square, the area next to the Sándor Palace and the Carmelite Monastery, adding: "In recent years, several plans have been created on the table of innovative architects for the expansion of the Galéria Szent György Square, creating the concept of the "Hungarian Acropolis" , which would strengthen the Castle District in its cultural function. This also coincides with the ideas of the capital".
Kerpel-Fronius' vision was commented on by his own commentators, among others, as follows:
"this is dramatically horrible"
"Pile of stones, bleakness"
"The standard of this plan would have been embarrassing in 1996...the idea itself...well, let it go."
"Well, I absolutely could not support such buildings in the Castle, and moreover, we would sow the seeds of another "the left will only destroy Buda" argument. Let's not do it, please."
"The forced development of the castle by Fidesz is very far from me, but looking at these pictures, I'd rather it happen. To evaluate the above ideas in one word: disaster!"
