An agreement was reached on several issues at Thursday's meeting of the Metropolitan Public Development Council, announced the State Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office responsible for the development of Budapest and the capital agglomeration.
It was possible to agree with the capital that within the framework of the Healthy Budapest Program ten billion forints, i.e. a total of fifty billion forints, will be used annually for five years, with the government handing the money over to the district municipalities . The mayor proposed the distribution between the districts, and the government accepted the proposal of Gergely Karácsony.
The district municipalities can use this resource for the renovation and construction of clinics and outpatient care facilities and for the purchase of therapeutic and diagnostic equipment.
According to Balázs Fürjes, they have agreed on three developments, which the government will undertake and finance, in the amount of HUF 75 billion. As part of this, the Pest quays will be renewed, a wider, more cultured, pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly pavement surface will be created on the Danube bank, there will be sitting areas and terraces, and the people of Budapest can take possession of the quay. Another such development is the southern extension of the Buda winding tram from Szent Gellért tér on Lágymányos, across the Kopaszi dam to Budafoki út, touching the university quarter. The third development is the complete renovation of the Kelenföld bus station and the construction of a P+R parking lot with 1,500 spaces.
Knowing the agreement, we can wait curiously to see what Karácsony's army of advisers will come up with, so that they can continue to play their hit song that starts with "the government is bleeding the capital".
