Péter Márki-Zay's words - that the rural Fidesz people can't even solve a crossword puzzle - were suitable to "forge the countryside together", Péter Sótonyi stated in Vasárnapi Újság.
In a statement, the board expressed its thanks to the Hungarian healthcare system for the correction. At the same time, they also added that insidious mood-raising is taking place, rumors are spreading, and it seems as if some people would be happier if the Hungarian healthcare system could save as few patients as possible. The circumstances of writing the statement were discussed in Kossuth Rádió's Sunday Newspaper program with Péter Sótonyi, rector of the University of Veterinary Medicine and president of the Batthyány Circle of Professors.
Thanks and concern, success in the fight against the epidemic can only be achieved with consistent and disciplined observance of the measures, warns the Batthyány Circle of Professors in its announcement.
Péter Sótonyi recalled in the program that the government's epidemiological measures have been continuously attacked over the past year. A typical example is that critics first questioned why the government was not open, and then soon after attacked the decision-makers for opening too early.
Using the situation for political purposes is a serious problem, according to the professor.
One of the important points of attack on the part of the opposition is still related to Eastern, including Chinese, vaccines. It is difficult for Péter Sótonyi to understand this attitude, since in one half of the world they vaccinate with this vaccine, several scientific publications consider it to be the better vaccine. In his opinion, unfortunately, business interests can also play a role in similar manifestations.
According to the rector of the University of Veterinary Medicine, it is a false claim that the Chinese vaccines are of uncertain origin, the vaccine production can be traced exactly, we know the complete documentation of the vaccines, and even the Hungarian authorities check them before use.
I can assure everyone that at the moment, the licensed vaccines put on the market in Hungary absolutely comply with all kinds of regulations and requirements and can be used safely - said the president of the Batthyány Circle of Professors.
The board accepted the statement almost unanimously, which indicates that the previous words of the mayor of Hódmezővásárhely, Péter Márki-Zay, according to which "even the Professors Batthyány Circle has backed away from the government" were not true.
At the same time, Péter Sótonyi emphasized that the announcement was not a reaction to the mayor's words. "We do not consider Péter Márki-Zay to be such a significant personality that we should deal with him. It is not the aim of the Batthyány Circle of Professors to respond to all such manifestations", were the words of the rector.
According to Sótonyi, the words of the mayor of Hódmezővásárhely - that the rural Fidesz cannot solve a single crossword puzzle - were suitable to "forge the countryside together".
"We have never backed down from the government, as this government represents the values - Hungarian, national, Christian, conservative values - that our group also represents, not only the professors in Budapest, but also the professors in the countryside," stated the president.
