The epidemic situation in Germany is worrisome, where the government is considering another nationwide lockdown. More and more people are sick, and intensive care units in hospitals will soon be full. Vaccination is still slow because there is not enough vaccine. Many people therefore prefer to get vaccinated abroad. For a while, Serbia was the destination, but now Russia is the most common destination.

A travel agency saw a business opportunity in vaccine tourism. Foreigners who spend three days in Moscow receive the vaccinations at a private clinic and not only get the vaccine, but can also take part in an organized city tour.

"There's no politics in this, it's business. When we started planning the trips, Cuba, Israel, Russia and Serbia could come into consideration. But Russia turned out to be the best choice"

- said Albert Sigl, co-owner of World Visitor, according to whom more and more people are signing up for the trip to Moscow.

"According to my calculations, if everything happens at the current rate, then I would have to wait at least another five to ten months for the vaccination in Germany. This is too long. I looked around to see what options there were, one of them was Serbia, they used to vaccinate foreigners there too, but not anymore. Russia was the second option and it works”

said German tourist Uwe Keim.

In March, Germany announced that it would begin negotiations with Russia on the acquisition of the Sputnik vaccine. In addition to the federal government, several provinces support the use of the Russian vaccine. Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder announced that a preliminary contract had been signed for the purchase of 2.5 million doses of Szputnyik.

Meanwhile, the epidemic gained momentum in Germany. On Friday, there were 160 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants, which is more than a week earlier.

The Minister of Health said this week that the third wave of the epidemic cannot be stopped with vaccination and testing, so a nationwide lockdown should be introduced again. The parliament is already discussing a new law, the essence of which is that the same restrictions would be introduced everywhere where the number of infections exceeds the prescribed level.

At Friday's debate, Angela Merkel said that the epidemic situation is taking on very serious proportions and that the intensive care units will soon be full. The bill is expected to be adopted next week.
