On her community page, Justice Minister Dr. Judit Varga commented on the panel discussion in which the German Chancellor and the leader of the European Parliament group of the European People's Party discussed vaccine procurement, European democracy, and Fidesz.
"In a panel discussion on Wednesday, Angela Merkel, together with Manfred Weber, criticized the countries that approved Eastern vaccines by satisfying the slow and opaque control of the European Medicines Agency.
If we leave aside the fact that Eastern vaccines - which have been tested by the best Hungarian specialists - are just as effective and safe as their Western counterparts, we cannot forget that even in March Mrs. Merkel herself said that if Szputnyik does not take place for European-level procurement of vaccine, "Germany will go its own way."
How is this?
Hungary can't go its own way, only Germany❓ The really big twist in the story is that during today's CDU Saxon Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer's visit to Russia, he announced that Germany plans to buy 30 million doses of Sputnik V vaccine during the summer...
Who understands this...
In the meantime, more than a third of the Hungarian population has already received at least the first dose of the vaccine against the coronavirus, which could not have been achieved if we waited for Brussels. The success of Hungarian vaccine procurement is confirmed by the fact that more and more member states, including Germany, are opening up to Eastern vaccines.
And all we have to do is smile at the hypocritical Western double standards."
