One of the country's most modern firemen's barracks was built in Gyöngyös . The building complex that houses the Gyöngyös Disaster Management Branch and the city's professional fire department was completed with more than HUF 1.3 billion in non-refundable European Union funding.
The barracks, located in the heart of the city on a plot of almost one hectare, is a modern, well-equipped, economically operated facility, the great advantage of which is that firefighting vehicles alerted to damage can quickly and unobstructedly approach important roads, as the complex can be driven out in four directions.
The Gyöngyös disaster prevention branch is responsible for the safety of 64 settlements, while the local professional fire department provides protection for more than 114,000 residents of 48 settlements. As a result of the investment, the migration time is reduced, the damage can be minimized, i.e. the life of the people living in the area becomes safer.
