There was no question that he would support the recovery of little Bende, who lives near Szeged, with the clown doctors of the Charity Foundation. As they write, we were touched by the close-knit love of the Várkonyi family and the little boy's zest for life.
Bende's story is heartbreaking. The 23-month-old boy was born with an open spine, dilated brain ventricles, flaccid paralysis of the lower limbs, and difficulty holding urine and stool. He spent his first 4 months in hospitals, as his biological parents gave him up due to his illness.
Bende underwent four major and two minor surgeries. According to the mother, Bende is an extremely smart, cheerful, inquisitive toddler: belying his age, he has been singing, reciting poetry and reciting rhymes since he was 18 months old, he sees cause-and-effect relationships, and he is also capable of creating complex sentences.
He is ahead of his contemporaries in cognitive functions. He loves improvements. The big dream of parents is for their child to be the tiny owner of a Panthera Bambino wheelchair, which will replace the stroller, so they can taste the experience and feeling of freedom.
Together with the Karitáció Foundation, you can help Bende get a wheelchair! Please visit their website for more details.
