"Politics is the art of the possible", said Otto von Bismarck, the iron chancellor who, towards the end of the nineteenth century, created modern Germany in today's sense.
Now I read in the Nézőpont Institute's survey at the end of April that Fidesz's advantage (40%) over the left (34%) increased by 6 percentage points for the entire adult voting age population.
The Hungarian Prime Minister made several statements during his almost thirty-five-year political career, which indicate that his is to control the processes currently taking place , which is a textbook proposition, but cannot be done without talent. It is often ridiculed as "the peacock dance" or "pay attention to what I do and not what I say", but in fact the deeper content of these is that in a world that is changing at super speed, you have to stand your ground and move forward. You have to be skilled, a good strategist, blessed with a good dose of tactical sense, and you have to be able to ult!
"You have to move forward as best you can," writer Péter Veres once said.
And you need something else: work! I don't even know where I read that Orbán and his friends took on some kind of agricultural work when they were young and had to carry crates. Everyone had already fallen out of line, Orbán was still running with the crates, because he had to complete the daily homework. Even now, I can see that his work ethic and his need to see things are unbroken.
People are interested in the fate of themselves, their family, and their close circle developing well, and that all of this happens as safely as possible, exposed to as few threats as possible, while keeping their faith.
And yes! You don't live on bread alone! We want to protect each other above all, we want to be proud not only of our own successes, but also of the merits of our compatriots. Be it sports, cultural or scientific achievement: we say at this time, in the motherland, across the border, but also in the world, living scattered: it's good to be Hungarian! Recently, the scientific success of Katalin Karikó, a biochemist of Hungarian origin living in America, caused a national revelation, as she was the first to develop the vaccine for humanity in an emergency situation, which gave hope that we could continue our lives freely.
What has been happening to us since we have been living under the occupation of the virus, which of course still continues today. We dive in and get out. Like communism! And not only the virus, but also those who, as descendants of that idea, are frying their political bacon in the midst of an epidemic with an unpredictable outcome. (See: Cluj-Napoca bacon lovers!) While the government subordinates all strategic goals, money, equipment and weapons to the fight against the virus, the opposition in the background wants to achieve exactly that - no matter how many Hungarian victims it involves - to make everything as bad as possible and let Fidesz fall into this. That the Eastern vaccines are bad, that there are not enough breathing machines, yes, then why are there so many, sure "Orbán-biznic", but we quickly vaccinate ourselves with the Eastern one, (after all, they are not stupid and unfortunately it took away many from their ranks the disease! In no small measure as a result of destructive behavior!)
They cheer when people feel a little uncertain and, of course, sometimes they even doubt out of necessity, because we have a hard time bearing unknown adversity. We struggle with the uncertain!
And the government believed from the beginning that the epidemic could be defeated and worked for it. By six o'clock, the operational staff was already on their feet, they created hospital sites, did logistics, constantly measured the seriousness of the situation, they were not afraid to take action, to be unpopular when the successive waves almost collided above their heads.
We are not out of the water even now! But soon we will have five million vaccinated and confidence is slowly returning that it can be done! Together, disciplined, empathetic, but doing our work depending on the constantly monitored possibilities.
The moment of decision, at the same time the assumption of risk. Not the risk of the reckless, but of the brave. That we did everything humanly possible to succeed. And now we are at the stage where, albeit limited, it can be opened! We can sit out on the terraces, go to the cinema, the theater, but carefully, we can organize events, and yes, of course, we can also go to matches! The EC is here.
Everyone hopes, and rightly so, that this spring is for revival, that together with nature we can leave this terrible winter dream and focus on the future.
People see that everything is really happening for them! It is no accident that the trust and support for Fidesz and Viktor Orbán jumped significantly!
You have to keep working!
Soli Deo gloria! Glory to God alone!
