This year is the 28th time that the environmental beautification competition for a Flowering Hungary will be organized.
The organizing committee of the Flowering Hungary competition and the Hungarian Tourism Agency are waiting until June 15 for applications from local governments, as well as public applications, where the most flowery balconies and front gardens will compete with each other. Hungarian-inhabited settlements across the border can also enter the competition.
This year, settlements with less than 2,000 inhabitants will be evaluated based on the usual competition rules and evaluation criteria. Communities with more than 2,000 inhabitants can also apply online by submitting an introductory material. On the internet interface created for this purpose, some questions related to the care and maintenance of green spaces must be answered briefly, and there is also the possibility to upload photos of the settlement.
If they wish, larger settlements can also choose judging by personal presence. In view of the extraordinary situation, this year applicants can also participate in the competition with thematic entries - they can also apply if they only want to present a park, square or school yard.
Continuing the tradition started two years ago, Hungarian-inhabited settlements across the border can also enter the competition. This year, in addition to Transylvanian settlements, communities from all regions from Subcarpathia to Vojvodina or from the Highlands to Austria can apply.
