"We need to demonstrate to the member states that Christian values, constitutional traditions and cultural heritage are important to us," Hajnalka Juhász emphasized in his interview with Pesti Srácok, in connection with the fact that from May 21, i.e. Friday, our country will assume the presidency of the Council of Europe. .
The ministerial commissioner emphasized: the Council of Europe is an organization that brings together more European countries than the EU, where, although liberal themes have dominated lately, great potentials are still hidden. Hajnalka Juhász said that the issue of indigenous minorities will be given a prominent place in the program of the Hungarian presidency.
He added that when a specific country decides what priorities it will choose, it must coordinate these priorities with the Committee of Ministers. He called it a significant step forward that "the brakes were not pulled" on the issue of national minorities or interreligious dialogue.
He emphasized that we must demonstrate to the member states that Christian values, constitutional traditions and cultural heritage are important to us. It is important to draw the attention of the Council of Europe to the fact that these issues also have security policy aspects that directly affect Europe, so we will raise a very strong voice in the Council of Europe.
The rejection of Minority SafePack also shows that this legal institution does not work in practice. At the same time, Hajnalka Juhász emphasized that no one should feel that his signature would be unnecessary, as we will draw the attention of the Council of Europe to the fact that the European Commission, which has the opportunity to initiate a legislative act, always withdraws from this at this historical moment, therefore the ET should play a role in how the European Union approaches the issue. We Hungarians can be the flag bearers of this during the Hungarian presidency of the Council of Europe .
