The Parliament started the discussion of the 2022 budget bill at its session today. In his presentation, the Minister of Finance Mihály Varga said: the 2022 budget is the budget for the restart.
Next year's budget will also help restart the economy and life. This means that the funds of the budget are also used so that everyone who has lost their job can get it back or get a new job, and all entrepreneurs who had to close their business can restart it and, if possible, develop it further.
The focus is on job-creating investments, family support, tax reduction and valuing the elderly.
The goal is for Hungary to be one of the five most successful countries in the European Union by 2030, and the crisis will continue to be managed not with austerity, but with increased subsidies and tax cuts, and the budget deficit and public debt will be put back on a downward path.
Among other things, the Minister of Finance mentioned that the bill envisages a deficit target of 5.9 percent of GDP, moderate inflation of 3 percent, and dynamic economic growth of 5.2 percent. Putting the debt ratio on a downward path remains a priority, i.e. the state debt should be reduced from 80.4 percent of GDP last year to below 80 percent this year, and to 79.3 percent of the gross domestic product next year.
