After restarting the economy, Hungary will return to the path of deficit and debt reduction, which characterized the past 10 years, the finance minister wrote on his social media page.
Mihály Varga emphasized that the budget ensures deficit and debt reduction, as well as subsidies. "The left, on the other hand, believes that crisis management is based on austerity and indebtedness," he added.
The minister rejected the opposition's claim that the 5.9 percent deficit target planned for 2022 refers to an election budget. If this were the case, then - as he wrote - between 2002 and 2010 there was always an election budget.
According to the summary figure attached to the post, the lowest annual budget deficit during the left-wing governments was 3.8 percent, and peaked at 9.3 percent.
I read that, according to the left, the election budget is next year's budget with a deficit target of 5.9%. According to them, there was an election every year between 2002 and 2010? 🤷♂️ The figure below refers to this. 👇
I understand that, according to the left, crisis management is based on austerity and indebtedness, while we stick to tax cuts and increasing subsidies. The resources for this were and are provided by the budget. 👉
After restarting the economy, we will return to the path of deficit and debt reduction that we have been on for the past 10 years, writes the finance minister.
