Two weeks later than the originally indicated deadline, until June 28, individual applications for the support of small village shops within the framework of the Hungarian Village Program can be submitted.

Alpár Gyopáros, the government commissioner responsible for the development of modern settlements, announced that the HUF 48 billion tender announced as the fourth pillar of the program will help the development of small shops operating in settlements with a population of less than 2,000 and the reopening of previously closed units.

The support can be used for infrastructure development, asset acquisition, real estate purchase and wage support adapted to employment.

In addition to the sale of basic foodstuffs, village small shops can also provide postal services, distribute over-the-counter medicines and operate community spaces. Business associations, sole proprietors or cooperatives can submit their applications through the National Policy Information System, the announcement reads.

The decree containing the detailed rules for the support of small village shops can be found on the government portal and on the website of Bethlen Gábor Alapkezelő Zrt., where a guide to help with the submission of applications and a summary containing frequently asked questions are also available, the government commissioner wrote.
