Chancellor Gergely Gulyás and Görgy Vashegyi, president of the Hungarian Academy of Arts (MMA), jointly announced the creation of the first national institution that supports Hungarian early music performance and research, called Haydneum.
The new Hungarian state music institution was created on the model of the Versailles Baroque Music Center (Centre de musique baroque de Versailles, CMBV) and the Palazzetto Bru Zane (Centre de musique romantique française) in Venice, and will function similarly to them.
The focus of its activities is the rediscovery, preservation and dissemination of Hungarian Baroque, Viennese classical and early romantic repertoire (1630-1830) - in addition to supporting early music performance with scholarships, master classes and festivals.
"This is a gap-filling initiative whose time was right now," emphasized
Gergely Gulyás, noting that György Vashegyi's personality is a guarantee of the highest quality. He also added: the establishment of the center is also connected with the development of the Eszterháza area, since looking back at the Hungarian historical past, there could be no more worthy place for the Haydneum than Eszterháza.
"With the establishment of the institution, a new chapter in the approximately forty-year history of Hungarian early music performance and research begins," emphasized György Vashegyi, president of the Hungarian Academy of Arts (MMA). He stated that the center will have "two faces": the support of Hungarian early music playing, and the huge and largely unknown, 17th-18th century music. musicological research of 19th century composer legacies.
We can participate in the programs supported by the Haydneum already in the summer, and the opening festival will be organized between October 4th and 6th in Budapest. Details and additional information can be found on the Haydneum.com website
