The program has a total budget of about HUF 912 million. Its addressees are mainly Roma children living in the most disadvantaged settlements in Hungary and the Hungarian-inhabited areas of the Carpathian Basin, young adults living there who are about to find work or who have dropped out of the school system, contributing volunteers, social workers, and the leaders of the Roma communities in the settlements.
The overall goal of the project is to promote the catch-up of disadvantaged or cumulatively disadvantaged social groups in the Hungarian-inhabited areas of the Carpathian Basin. In connection with the "Roma - no borders" conference in Szeged, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Humanities, Csaba Latorcai, reminded that the government is planning for the long term: in accordance with the catch-up strategy, in addition to the education, training and employment objectives, the aim is to reduce regional disadvantages, health development, child welfare measures and attitude formation.
In recent years, the government has made a number of decisions that help Roma society catch up with comprehensive, practical and opportunity-creating solutions. This promotes more effective labor market integration, opportunity-creating education, and better access to health services.
