It is a private initiative, but it affects all residents of the capital and those who are forced to travel in Budapest for some reason. A citizen of the capital demands an explanation for the unbearable chaos.
"I am Zsolt Szilágyi, a citizen of Budapest. Due to the drastic realignment of the traffic lanes and the car traffic of the Capital of Budapest, the public transport is also paralyzed or threatened with paralysis due to the large-scale investments and lane realignments that started and are underway practically simultaneously in June 2021.
The simultaneous works of Lánchíd, Pesti rakpart, Hegyalja út, Blaha Lujza tér, Batthyány tér, and the middle section of the M3 metro line will cause chaos in Budapest traffic until the end of 2022, if not longer. We don't know about it, it is not readable, it is not public, the impact study that probably has not been completed, which would show the combined effect of these transport investments and traffic order changes. The simultaneous launch of these investments will result in long-term chaos in the traffic of our Capital.
These simultaneous changes make it difficult to stimulate the economy in terms of the capital, worsen the recovery of tourism in Budapest, and make life difficult for hundreds of thousands of workers from Budapest and those who travel to Budapest. For these circumstances, we citizens condemn Mayor Gergely Karácsony. He must bear the consequences of the chaos resulting from the situation.”
