The Visegrád group (V4) is today the strongest alliance in the European Union, not only politically, but increasingly economically as well, stated Tamás Menczer, the State Secretary responsible for information and the international presentation of Hungary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Budapest.
He emphasized: today, the Visegrád group primarily represents common sense, unity and strength, as well as a restart after the epidemic situation in Europe.
Common sense was most evident in the handling of migration, when the V4 said: they do not want mixed societies and drew attention to the terrorist and health risks posed by migration. "We want a Europe in which cooperation is based on mutual respect and strong nation-states," said the Secretary of State at the handover of the firewall mural on Klauzál Street, which was created for the thirtieth anniversary of the formation of the V4 made up of Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia.
The restart after the epidemic situation is helped by the fact that Hungary continued one of the most successful defenses in Europe, in which it also cooperated with the V4. This made it possible for the country to start restarting life and the economy earlier, Tamás Menczer pointed out.
This is the last day of the Polish presidency of the Visegrád group, and the Hungarian presidency begins on Thursday, said the Polish ambassador to Hungary, Jerzy Snopek, at the ceremonial inauguration of the mural, adding:
Poland is over a successful but difficult presidency, and Hungary can hopefully lead the V4 in a more favorable epidemiological situation.
According to the diplomat, the V4's cooperation is based on cohesion and synergy, integration and sovereignty. The countries of the group should not only be united by interests, but also need to preserve common values - warned the ambassador, adding that the goal of the V4 is still not a "Visegrad superstate", but an alliance of equal and sovereign states.
State Secretary for Culture Péter Fekete announced that cultural innovations born of the epidemic situation will be reviewed by the V4 during the Hungarian presidency at a joint conference in the Hungarian National Museum, and then an exhibition of the results of the conference will open in Strasbourg.
Joanna Urbanska, director of the Polish Cultural Institute in Budapest, said that the mural designed by Magda Miszczak will be inaugurated in Warsaw, Bratislava, Prague and Budapest as the closing act of the Polish presidency and to commemorate the anniversary of the founding of the Visegrád group.
