Hungary will also introduce the EU protection certificate on July 1st. The English-Hungarian bilingual EU Covid certificate is available both digitally and on paper. Citizens who plan to travel within the European Union should download the EU Covid certificate digitally or print it out by entering the EESZT's Citizen Portal. This is the easiest way to obtain a certificate.
From July 1, the EU-compatible electronic certificate can also be downloaded via the mobile application that has been operating in Hungary since the beginning of May.
The name of the mobile application: EESZT Residential (Apple/App Store) or EESZT application (Google Play Store). The application can be used with customer portal login data.
The availability of EU-compatible versions of the mobile applications is published on eeszt.gov.hu The version that complies with the currently used Hungarian legislation must be replaced with the version that complies with the new EU legislation, if they appear in the application stores.
It is also a simple method if the traveler prints the certificate himself. can also download and print the certificate by logging in with their customer portal access through the Resident Portal of the Electronic Health Services Area (EESZT)
In addition, the paper certificate can be requested free of charge at government offices and general practitioners. In the government offices, you can even manage a case without making an appointment in advance. The ID card will be issued immediately after the application. At government offices, it is possible to request the EU digital COVID vaccination, test and recovery certificate, which can be downloaded and printed in PDF format after the request. Paper certificates are valid without a stamp or signature, as their authenticity is ensured by the QR code on them.
Those who wish to travel, despite the certificate, should definitely find out about the current entry conditions set by the destination country before the trip.
The member states can define special entry rules within their own jurisdiction and decide which vaccine to accept in their national jurisdiction. about any special entry rules in force in the destination country konsuliszolgalat.kormany.hu .
Who is entitled to an EU Covid certificate?
Based on the rules set by the European Union, the EU Covid certificate verifies protection in three different ways. The certificate can be issued to:
- who received the vaccination - vaccination certificate
They have been vaccinated at least once and a year has not yet passed since the first vaccination. The vaccination certificate is valid for 1 year. The host country determines which vaccines it accepts as proof of vaccination. All vaccinated persons can receive a vaccination certificate, regardless of which coronavirus vaccine they have received, but member states determine which vaccines are accepted. In the case of vaccinations, the EU Covid certificate (both in the application and in the downloadable, printable version) contains the official name and manufacturer of the vaccine, which is not the same as the vaccine names used in everyday life! The member states also determine within their own jurisdiction how many vaccinations are required and how many days must elapse after the vaccination to be classified as protected, and how long the protection is certified based on the vaccination. - who has been confirmed to have been infected - certificate of recovery
According to the conditions set by the EU, this means that 15 days have passed since the last positive PCR test for the detection of the coronavirus or a positive antigen rapid test acceptable according to the EU regulation, and 180 days have not yet passed away.
The maximum validity of this type of ID card is 180 days, but member states can set a shorter date. In this case, the ID card must be issued no earlier than 11 days after the first time a positive antigen rapid test or a negative PCR test was performed on the given person. It is important to note that the issuance of medical certificates differs from the immunity certificates issued in Hungary. Thus, in all cases, the fact of suffering from the disease will not be sufficient for the EU health certificates, because in the latter case the suffering from the disease can only be confirmed with a positive PCR test. - who has a negative coronavirus test - test certificate
The host countries can decide for themselves what validity test is required for entry into the country, it can be 24, 48, 72 hours, etc. A negative PCR test no older than 72 hours is required to enter Hungary.
Authenticated with a QR code
Both the digital and printed versions include a QR code with the basic information and a digital stamp that guarantees the authenticity of the ID card, so paper-issued ID cards are valid without a stamp or signature. The QR code on the document can be scanned with special scanning software that can be installed on a mobile phone. The Hungarian version of the special scanning software is of course provided by the EU-compatible version of the EESZT Covid Control App, which is still available for free.
In order to avoid customer complaints, it is advisable to always check after printing whether the received QR code contains the correct data.
The vaccination control application is available for both Android and iOS platforms under the name "EESZT COVID Control". The inspection can be carried out by both the clerk and the customer.
If you don't travel, you don't need to buy one
To use the services within Hungary, the Hungarian protection card or the vaccination certificate presented on the mobile application is still sufficient.
Simultaneously with the introduction of the EU COVID certificate, the QR scanner of the Hungarian protection card (plastic card) also shows the date of the second vaccination from July 1.
