As we have already reported, the European right-wing has stood against the idea of a European super-state. Sixteen parties, including Fidesz, the Polish Law and Justice and the Italian League, signed a joint declaration in which they support the idea of the EU and defend Christian values. With 117 representatives, the factions represent the third largest force in the European Parliament.
The joint statement shows the strength of the European right-wing party - stressed Katalin Novák, Minister without portfolio responsible for families and vice-president of Fidesz, in an interview with Magyar Hírlap.
"A common thinking about the future of Europe has started, and we, the right-wing Christian Democratic parties, have something to say. This is our contribution to the debate on the future of the EU. We support strong, sovereign nation-states against efforts to create a super-state, increase bureaucracy, and abolish unanimous decision-making. Against immigration, we believe in strengthening families and Christian culture. Decisions must remain in the hands of democratically elected leaders and the people.”
He stressed: several months of preparatory work preceded the signing of the declaration. I consider it an important step that we were able to find a common position that we all share with parties sitting in two different right-wing factions of the European Parliament. This also shows how strong the European right-wing is, how much potential it has. This is more important than structures, bureaucratic steps.
"We see the panic reactions of the European People's Party and the left factions. They are worried, because communities representing serious political power, including governing parties, have come together because they understand that it is necessary to display national values and interests," continued the minister in response to a question.
Matters are put on the agenda every day in Brussels, which push the European discourse in a purely left-wing, progressive direction against traditional values. We must not only defend ourselves, but also stand up for the values that are important to us, such as family.
