While during and after the epidemic, the government protected the economy on several fronts and helped people with loan moratoriums, free parking, and VAT reductions, the mayors of the left, led by Gergelly Karácsony, abused the power they received due to the state of emergency; they cut the population and businesses with restrictions, Ripost reported.
Parents can pay 10 percent more in kindergartens and schools operating in properties owned by the capital - this was decided by Mayor Gergely Karácsony (one of the candidates for prime minister of the left) in one person, just as he himself decided on the adoption of the city's 2021 budget.
Led by László Kiss (formerly MSZP, currently DK) , the land tax was raised in Óbuda, but the building tax was also raised in Erzsébetváros (Péter Niedermüller, DK), Szombathely (dr. András Nemény, MSZP) and Salgótarján (Zsolt Fekete, MSZP). The municipal tax was increased to the maximum amount in Józsefváros (András Pikó, Összefogas).
Eger increased the tourism tax by 10 percent (Ádám Mirkóczki, Jobbik, left the party last year). Several left-wing districts in the capital have withdrawn benefits for kindergarten teachers. Among others, Krisztina Baranyi in Ferencváros, and workers in Józsefváros and Újbuda (dr. Imre László) received less money. The free public WiFi was abolished, also in Józsefváros.
A reimbursement fee was introduced in the municipally maintained nurseries in Budakalász (dr. Göbl Richárd, 2011 Association) and the cafeteria was taken away from the kindergarten workers in Ferencváros.
Krisztina Baranyi, the mayor of Ferencváros, also raised building and land tax, this was decided by one person. Despite the prohibition of the government decree, Péter Niedermüller, the VII. district mayor. In an interview, he stated: he consciously goes against the decree and is waiting for the position of the Curia and the Constitutional Court.
Tibor Déri (Momentum), the mayor of Újpest, raised the rents. In a letter, Újpest Vagyonkezelő Zrt. informed the residents of the municipal apartment buildings that there will be a new common cost from April, and that they will also have to pay separate service fees.
The HUF one million non-refundable housing allowance for young married couples in Újpest has been abolished.
