Judit Varga wrote in her Facebook post on Monday that the organizations of the left-wing opinion bubble are once again trying to undermine Hungary's reputation with fake reports and lists machinating with directed questions. The head of the Ministry of Justice reacted to the news that Reporters Without Borders lacks press freedom in Hungary.
The list published by the "independently objective" Reporters Without Borders on Monday tries to show Hungary as a place where freedom of the press is suppressed in a particularly drastic and merciless way - reminds Judit Varga, adding: the organization that in 2017 has 200,000, in 2019 and he received 175,000 dollars from the foundation of György Soros, which served as the sole source of support for several of the concerns and accusations formulated by the Commission in preparing the European Commission's report on the rule of law.
The minister highlighted: in contrast to all this, the reality is that during the coordinated attacks against Hungary, they ignore the fact that conservative opinions are almost completely suppressed in Western Europe. "Furthermore, the fact that only 45 percent of Germans believe that they can express their opinion freely is also worrying, while in Hungary the freedom of online and offline opinions is guaranteed for everyone," points out Judit Varga, adding that the Council of Europe was the first international organization, which adopted in 2011 the Hungarian Basic Law No. 1941 (2013) stated in its decision that "for the first time in the history of free and democratic Hungary, the new Hungarian parliament amended the previous constitution inherited from the one-party system into a new and modern Basic Law through a democratic process, after intensive debates in the parliament and with the participation of Hungarian civil society."
"Hungary is one of the few EU member states where real pluralism prevails in the media and ideological debates, as well as in public opinion. A comprehensive legislative environment ensures journalistic and editorial freedom," emphasized the minister, who said that the "list producers" of Reporters Without Borders should be more concerned about Politico's refusal to publish the opinion article of the justice minister of a democratically elected government. Because this is really worrying from the point of view of press freedom, Judit Varga pointed out.
