While in many countries of the world, including the United States, or - as we reported - in France, politicians and their tabloid press incite against the police and law enforcement officers, in Hungary we support and thank their sacrificial work.
Alexandra Szentkirályi praised the Hungarian police and national guards on her social media page:
"The security of the country is in good hands. Thanks to our police and our national guards!
During the epidemic, the police and soldiers did their part in defense, be it supporting the administration of hospitals, patrolling, disinfecting educational institutions or border protection. The latter is also important because, although little was said about it during the pandemic, even during this time, many people were able to personally experience what the migration pressure means in the border regions of the country. This year alone, around 40,000 illegal border crossing attempts were reported, which is almost four times more than in the same period last year. The police are working with military reinforcements, and I could see for myself at the border crossing in Bácsszentgyörgy, with Captain Máté Hirmann our country makes great efforts not only for the security of the Hungarian people, but for the safety of the whole of Europe.
This is clearly demonstrated by the fact that (on Friday) night a total of 73 migrants were arrested at the Bács-Kiskun county border section. According to those serving here, it can generally be said that 90 percent of the people trying to cross the border are young men.
Thanks to the border guards who intervene with amazing speed 24 hours a day where they are needed!"
