Visiting the busy traffic junctions of Örs vezér tér, Boráros tér and Újbuda, we found that the presence of beggars, homeless people and rowdy groups is still typical in the capital's busy locations. Based on the conditions prevailing in the subways and squares, it seems that the capital and the left-wing districts led by Gergely Karácsony have neglected the issue of public safety and cleanliness, Magyar Nemzet wrote.
Order and public cleanliness are neither important to Gergely Karácsony, nor to Csaba Horváth, nor to the left-wing representatives of Zugló. Unfortunately, the current and previous mayors of Zugló are political adventurers who only care about their own careers, who have nothing to do with Zugló, and who apparently do not care about the safety of the people living here, said Zoltán Rozgonyi, the Fidesz faction leader in Zugló.
The representative said that Örs vezér tér is one of the busiest traffic and commercial hubs in the capital and also in Zugló, where tens of thousands travel daily.
"The space gives the impression of being dilapidated, trashy and neglected. In and around the underpass, illegal street vendors, homeless people and drug addicts set up shop, and more recently, begging gangs have also appeared," he said.
According to Zoltán Rozgonyi, the two-week public safety and cleanliness campaign organized by BKK in March was only a one-time campaign event. No positive effects are visible. The Capital City and the Zugló Municipality are doing nothing to restore order and security in public areas, he said, and he also drew attention to the fact that there is no permanent police presence in the area, so there is no one to ask for help against bullies.
According to the leader of the faction, the sense of security of the people living in the area and those driving around the square is getting worse and worse. "The people of Zugló have been promising to renovate the square for years, but nothing is being done. "The construction of the escalator, the elevator to help the elderly, the disabled, and people with strollers, as well as the renovation of the pavement and street furniture of the square, was only a campaign promise," he said. Zoltán Rozgonyi emphasized that despite the fact that the people living in the area and those traveling in the area ask for help from the local government in order to clean the area and ensure normal conditions, nothing happens.
A local resident described the conditions characteristic of Örs vezér square as characterized by dirt, filth, unpretentiousness and stench.
"Sometimes they do something there that can't be called cleaning, because the place is still dirty, stained, filthy, smelly, undemanding, because the figures who camp at the subway entrance do their work in the underpass," he complained.
Another interviewed Zugló resident said that his teenage child does not dare to use the underpass because of the constant presence of rowdy people. He pointed out that the constant sight of the place is the sight of ignorant, raging, dirty men and women who either gather at the subway entrance or sit in a row on the stairs, obstructing pedestrians, and if someone dares to speak to them, they react aggressively.
Those interviewed also said that the BKK bus stops are also in a neglected state, bags full of garbage and littered bins can be seen everywhere, and trash is constantly spilling out of the bins.
