According to a survey by Társadalomkutató Kft., it is true that families with children approve of the ban on LGBTQ propaganda to a greater extent, but the majority of those who do not have children also have grandchildren.
71 percent of parents and grandparents raising children under the age of 18 agree with the passage of the government's child protection law that prohibits the promotion of LGBTQ to children, while only 62 percent of those without children agree.
One of the sections of the Child Protection Act that caused the greatest outrage in liberal circles was the ban on the promotion of LGBTQ ideology or media representation for children. The Western entertainment industry and decision-makers also consider the "correct" education of those under 18 to be important and would prefer to have it regulated at the EU level.
According to the Társadalomkutató poll two-thirds of adult Hungarians (67 percent) agree with this strict prohibition against the liberal zeitgeist (regarding homosexuality)
All adult Hungarian citizens can vote in the referendum initiated by the government, but it is still interesting whether the affected group, parents and grandparents raising children under the age of 18, have a different opinion. 54 percent of the entire sample is raising minors, and 71 percent of them agree with the ban, so it is slightly higher. In contrast , only 62 percent of those who do not raise children under the age of 18, representing 46 percent of the entire sample, approve of the law's prohibition.
Overall, it can be said that regardless of the number and age of their children, a clear majority of adult Hungarians agree that homosexuality should not be promoted or shown to children in the media. For understandable reasons, the agreement of parents and grandparents raising minors is the strongest.
