The British government has created a website specifically for illegal immigrants. However, the Johnsons seem to have learned something after Brexit, because it is not the usual helpful and welcoming portal in the West. The portal called On The Move tends to discourage immigrants with messages such as: "we will send you back" or "you can't hide".
According to The Independent, the Ministry of Home Affairs has created a deception organization called On The Move, which is "dedicated to provide migrants on the road with free, reliable and important information". The contact details of the organization's website were distributed to migrants in France and Belgium wishing to cross the English Channel during a social media campaign that consumed twenty-three thousand British pounds in five months. The website operates under the domain name .org, which is mostly used by aid organizations, and does not otherwise contain any reference to the Ministry of the Interior. Research by The Independent revealed that the website was created in April 2020 in such a way as to keep the owner's personal information hidden. The website encourages asylum seekers to email On The Move with their questions, not knowing that they are actually contacting the British government.
The portal informs readers that the United Kingdom regularly returns illegal immigrants to the European Union, although in fact it has not been able to do so since January 1 due to Brexit. The portal also includes the information that it would be a crime to drive a barge through the English Channel. However, The Independent points out that such controversial lawsuits have declined recently. The portal, which was created due to the large number of migrants crossing the English Channel, has slogans such as "don't put your life and your child's life in danger", "we will send you back" and "you can't hide", among others. Nick Thomas-Symonds , the Home Secretary of the shadow government of the opposition British Labor Party, accused the British Home Secretary Priti Patel
We need an immigration policy that focuses on curbing the gangs that profit from human trafficking and opening up safe and legal immigration routes, as well as withdrawing the government's ineffective draft law, which is in conflict with the refugee convention, stressed Thomas-Symonds. He pointed out that the website in question was created as part of the Ministry of the Interior's campaign to discourage illegal immigrants. Visitors to the On The Move website are first asked if they are considering entering the UK illegally. Those who answer yes will be directed to a page designed to draw attention to the dangers of travel, legal risks and the reality of life in a European country. The website also has a 'safe and legal alternatives' page, but this does not include any details on how to apply for asylum in Britain or how to enter the country legally. Instead, the published information focuses on France and Belgium and other EU states and how to voluntarily return to the countries of origin.
