New virtual battlefields have been created, where the government of Hungary is already under constant fire with shocking fake news - parliamentary representative István Simicskó, the leader of the parliamentary group of the Christian Democratic People's Party, told vasarnap.hu. All of this can be dangerous, especially during elections!
Every election has a high stake, he said, but I am not exaggerating when I say that since the beginning of the regime change, no election has had such great importance as the one before us. In 2010, we took over the government from the governments led by Ferenc Gyurcsány and Gordon Bajnai in a state close to bankruptcy, but today Hungary is successful in all areas.
No one can dispute the struggles, results, and successes of the eleven or twelve years of government. People could experience that unlike the disreputable left-wing courses who themselves had caused a lot of trouble.
The biggest stake of the election is whether Hungary will continue to have an efficient, successful and capable government, or whether the solution to the fate issues that fundamentally affect the country's future - such as migration or the protection of our national sovereignty - will be divided along countless party interests, weak, and just completely whether it falls into the hands of a helpless group.
The left has a completely different vision. They think in terms of dying nation-states that are weakening, renouncing their sovereignty voluntarily and without compensation.
The government of Hungary is kept under constant fire with, among other things, shocking fake news, the worrying statements of celebrities who know nothing about our country or the issue at hand, reports directed by left-wing organizations that claim to be impartial, and even various legal procedures. The influence of online spaces has grown enormously in the life of democratic countries. People can be manipulated very effectively with the content of information on foreign-owned social media platforms.
During the foreign polls of the last years, we could see what type of "work" was going on on these platforms. We cannot doubt that we must prepare for similar information warfare in the Hungarian parliamentary elections.
It is a fact that campaigns are increasingly moving into virtual worlds. Today, there are nearly seven million Hungarian Facebook users. The various social portals are gaining more and more space, so we also need to be present more prominently in these areas.
After twelve years of government, it is the generation in their 20s and 30s that cannot know the dangers of a left-wing government based on austerity. We also have to express our position and opinion on these changed interfaces. As a university lecturer, I see that young people are very receptive to the problems and challenges of their time. They are looking for real alignment points. Every talented, intelligent young person basically wants to be successful. They want to know themselves, their abilities, they want to realize their dreams. I think this includes starting a family and having children. I find that the majority of young people feel their own responsibility in the world. I want to develop their knowledge and talents.
