Jesus preaches and practices the commandment of love - Franciscan monk Csaba Böjte declared on the second day of the International Eucharistic Congress (INEC). At the lecture held at Hungexpo in Budapest, he emphasized: "this is the only order that the master gave us".
In his presentation, the founder of the Szent Ferenc Foundation of Déva said: "Jesus Christ started us on a path (.), we are on the right path, this is the path we must continue on, we should offer these values and treasures to the rest of the world" .
Csaba Böjte said that love, readiness for dialogue, solidarity and mercy "grew" from the Gospel. Jesus "doesn't chase utopia", he believes in it, "and even on the cross he believed that this could be achieved", he added.
Referring to the situation in Afghanistan, he said: 50,000 "tough guys" want to impose their ideology on 40 million people, and it looks like five million people are fleeing the country. In contrast, during the European Parliament elections, the continent's 500 million inhabitants were able to peacefully discuss how to proceed, the minority could accept the opinion of the majority, and "we don't kill each other," he said.
At this point, the monk said that he was happy that the two-thousand-year-old Christian lives in Europe. Turning to solidarity, he spoke about how public education, public health, public safety, public lighting and the public road network grew out of Jesus' "small community" . He pointed out that in some parts of the world these achievements are missing because "Christ-like attention to each other" is missing.
Csaba Böjte thanked that Transylvanian children in trouble received a lot of aid from Hungary. Speaking about mercy, the Franciscan monk believed that in Europe, even those who are "not in a relationship of gratitude with Christianity" are "infected with the commandment of love".
In his opinion, "it's good that mercy has taken root in all of us", "when it hurts you when someone is in trouble and you bend over". At the world Catholic event, Csaba Böjte spoke, among other things, about the importance of confession, letting go of worries, patience, and, as he put it, "to believe in the ultimate victory of love" and "dare to show our love for each other".
Csaba Böjte also touched on the fact that nowadays it is "appropriate" to complain, whine, always find fault and talk down to each other. At this point, he stated: "I think that such a good Hungarian person has not lived in the Carpathian Basin in the last thousand years". His words were received by the audience with great applause. He added: you should be able to give thanks for good things and say thanks for them. According to his words, "the evil spirit wants us to be dissatisfied", on the other hand, Jesus Christ always comforts, encourages and strengthens us.
