From Friday to Sunday, the police and soldiers took action against 1,176 border violators, the National Police Headquarters informed MTI on Monday.
According to statistics on the police website, 392 foreigners illegally staying in the country on Friday, 424 on Saturday, and 330 on Sunday were arrested and escorted through the temporary security border by soldiers and police. In addition, thirty border violators were arrested, against whom immigration police proceedings were initiated.
In the past week, 2,716 border violators were arrested and escorted back across the country - the most so far this year. In the previous week - from August 30 to September 5 - the number of people detained was 2,318. In addition, in the past week, 35 border violators were arrested at the Croatian, Romanian, and Ukrainian borders and in the interior of the country, against whom immigration police proceedings were initiated. Proceedings were initiated against 46 suspects for human trafficking, according to the police summary.
