According to him, either he or Viktor Orbán will be prime minister in 2022.
"I assessed more or less correctly that if I start as a candidate for prime minister, I will face a terribly difficult campaign, and one must consider what one can bear, one must prepare oneself to bear it. I'm over it, I've thought it through, and if I'm committed to something, I'm committed to it"
Gergely Karácsony stated in his interview with 444. Based on all this, it seems that the mayor is at war not only with English, but also with his own mother tongue.
According to his confession, what is happening is what he expected: his Fidesz opponents are using their resources to attack him and not the others, who can thus campaign freely.
"I belong to that part of the opposition voters who, roughly, just roughly, it doesn't matter, just don't have Orbán. But I also know for sure that the voters who will decide the election do not feel the same way. I think that in 2022 either Viktor Orbán will be the prime minister or I will be."
The candidate for prime minister in the primary elections said that he greatly appreciates and respects his rivals, but he does not see that they have a plan on how to win the election. They believe that only the unity of the opposition is sufficient for this, although according to the mayor, this is not the case. Everyone wants to position their party as a candidate for prime minister, but no one is preparing to actually become prime minister. Because this is not only about party voters, there is no change without winning over non-party voters, he explained.
If, in addition to party positioning, they were preparing for the prime ministership, they would not say certain sentences, because they were not realizable promises even when they were said. Now I'm speaking directly in general terms, I don't want to be more specific than that
- he guessed.
With this, he revealed two things: on the one hand, that his fellow candidates are lying, and on the other hand, that he is telling the truth. Based on all of this, we have to take his words seriously and expect that, if he is elected, he will start confiscating assets on his first working day. Alone, of course, because there is no party organization rumbling behind him. But he does this only for the greater joy of the rule of law and democracy.
Gergely Karácsony also believes that the biggest problem of Hungarian society is that it is divided emotionally, socially or precisely in access to public services. At the same time, he does not see in Péter Jakab or Péter Márki-Zay that they can represent the diversity of the opposition as widely as possible, and that they have a clear political character that speaks to those who are uncertain. They have many virtues to win, but they are not enough, he believed.
And we believe that if Gergely Karácsony believes that he is suitable for national reunification - especially with regard to his threats during the campaign, for example ignoring the constitution he swore to, his lies about his language skills and education, and in general: his time at the head of Budapest , without performance for two years - then he is more naive than we thought. And that was a euphemism here.
