Even the people of Budapest are less optimistic about a change of government - according to a survey!
The majority of the population expects negative changes in their living conditions and financial situation if the left comes to power. According to a recent survey by Real-PR 93, the absolute majority of the Hungarian population expects negative consequences in important economic matters in case of a left-wing government.
53-57 percent of those surveyed believed that the taxes burdened by employees and businesses, as well as utility costs, would likely increase, and 60-63 percent thought that VAT would not decrease and the general standard of living would not increase if the left governed the country.
The results of the research carried out during the summer also indicate that the majority expects a negative impact on their own living conditions in the case of left-wing governance. Four out of ten - exactly 40 percent - believe that the living conditions in their settlement would deteriorate, and according to 37 percent of the respondents, their own financial situation would also deteriorate.
It is worth emphasizing that the number of negative opinions even exceeds that of those who do not expect substantial changes in the examined topics if the left comes to power.
On both issues, opinions are decidedly more pessimistic in the countryside than in the capital. 42 percent of the rural population believe that the living conditions in their place of residence would deteriorate, and 39 percent expect a deterioration in their financial situation in the event of a left-wing government. In the capital, the proportion of negative expectations is lower by 8-9 percentage points, but it must be emphasized that even among Budapest residents there are fewer optimists than pessimists. In the capital, the proportion of those who expect negative changes from today's left is four percentage points higher in relation to living conditions, and nine percentage points higher in regard to their own financial situation.
