On Wednesday, the truck that shows the events that happened in 2006, titled Republic Drowned in Blood, visited Keszthely.
" It's shocking, I recommend it to everyone " said Bálint Nagy, the mayor of Keszthely , when he saw the events of the demonstrations that broke out in 2006 after the Ószöd speech delivered by former Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány and the traveling exhibition in Keszthely showing "police terror".
- Those who could, were in Budapest at the time, others watched the events from their homes, on television, but in 15 years, an age group grew up that has no direct memory of what happened then, I recommend this exhibition primarily to them: think about whether they want to to lead this country in such an anti-democratic way in the future - said András Csótár, chairman of the human resources committee.
István Bába , the main organizer of the exhibition initiated by the Civil Solidarity Forum and the National Legal Protection Service, told our newspaper: I want to tell young people - even by debating with them - what true freedom means.
- The opposition claims something about this, and we hold a sharp mirror in front of them - said István Bába, also talking about the fact that the outdoor part of the exhibition consists of a few stop signs, on which arguments and data are presented about what happened fifteen years ago, but the traveling exhibition affects more the emotions , with the help of which one can experience in moments what it was like there and then.
Dr. Tamás Gaudi-Nagy , executive director of the National Legal Protection Service, and Jenő Manninger spoke at the public forum in the evening: the bloodiest violence by armed forces in the past fifty years was in September and October 2006.
This week, the truck will also visit Zala county, on Thursday in Nagykanizsa, and on Friday and Saturday in Zalaegerszeg, you can meet the unusual exhibition "The Republic Drowned in Blood", and next week, those interested will be able to see the traveling exhibition between the Danube and Tisza.
