They were charged in a case known as the devil's advocate. According to the Chief Prosecutor's Office of the Capital City, the defendant, who is a lawyer, and his companion published photographs and video recordings of sexual content containing special personal data on the Internet, the Chief Prosecutor of the Capital City informed MTI on Monday.

Tibor Ibolya wrote: according to the essence of the indictment, at the request of the first-class defendant, who is a lawyer, his companion, who was punished multiple times, created a profile on an Internet social network in September 2019, and then a page through it, which he later gave the title of The Devil's Advocate.

The second defendant later also requested advertisements related to this social media site, which he paid with the bank card he received from the lawyer, he added.

In his announcement, the Attorney General wrote that the goal of the defendants was to "make the sexually content, compromising recordings made public as widely as possible by Internet users." However, since it is not allowed to publish sexually content recordings on the social media site, the recordings were first published on porn sites, and then the link to the websites was shared on the social media site.

According to the indictment, "compromising photos and video recordings that are the subject of the case" were made public in blog posts published daily between October 2 and 9, 2019.

Tibor Ibolya stated: the lawyer treated nine people's portraits as special personal data and six people's special personal data "relating to sexual life" without authorization, which caused significant damage to their interests, and his partner intentionally helped him in this.

The lawyer and his partner are charged with nine counts of misuse of special personal data, which the second-degree defendant committed as an accessory to crime. The Attorney General's Office proposed that the court, without a hearing, impose a fine on the accused lawyer and a suspended prison sentence on his accomplice, who is a repeat offender.

The Metropolitan Prosecutor's Office announced in August that they had identified the "devil's advocate". Afterwards, lawyer Csaba Czeglédy, an independent municipal representative from Szombathely - candidate of the Democratic Coalition in the opposition primaries - admitted to the 24.hu portal that he was suspected, but stated that he was not behind the Devil's Advocate blog.
