Matteo Salvini, the head of the Italian pro-government League, announced that he supports the letter published on Friday addressed to the European Commission, in which twelve EU member states, including Hungary's interior minister, took a stand against the use of illegal immigration as a political tool.
Matteo Salvini reacted on his social media page by saying that if twelve European member states - governed by governments of different political colors - ask for an end to illegal immigration by any means necessary, then this must happen. Salvini asked how Italy would respond to all this. The letter made public by the Polish Ministry of the Interior was signed by the Bulgarian, Cypriot, Czech, Danish, Estonian, Greek, Lithuanian, Latvian, Slovak, Hungarian and Austrian interior ministers. Among other things, the ministers emphasized: in order to ensure the integrity and proper functioning of the Schengen zone, all external borders must be protected at the highest security level, and at the same time, the EU's migration and asylum policy must be made resistant to abuse.
It was found that some EU member states already use specific tools at the national level, but the danger threatens the EU as a whole, so a common EU-level solution is necessary.
Giorgia Meloni , president of the right-wing Italian Brothers (FdI), commented on the decision of the Polish Constitutional Court, according to which EU law is not the primary law in the country. He emphasized that the FdI agrees with the Polish Constitutional Court.
