Today, the Court of Justice of the European Union will start hearing the Hungarian and Polish claims related to the rule of law decree. Judit Varga spoke to Magyar Nemzet about last week's decision of the Polish Constitutional Court, and about the ever-increasing left-wing pressure in Brussels as the elections approach.
…– I can only hope that a truly professional debate will take place in Luxembourg, taking place in the true legal spirit. Of course, it would be naïve to think that they will not put strong pressure on the judges from Brussels, especially after they succeeded in speeding up the entire procedure. We have seen that when it comes to punishing member states, nothing is sacred to the pro-immigration majority of the European Parliament (EP). Although it is well known that due to the unanimous agreement reached at the highest level last December, the Ursula von der Leyen will not apply the rule of law mechanism until the court verdict, the EP is not interested in this. The only important thing for them is to withdraw EU funds, thereby interfering in next year's elections. At the same time, this money goes to the Hungarian people, because they worked hard for it. By the way, the Hungarian recovery package is ready, and we have the resources to launch it...
…– The Polish Constitutional Court ruled last week that certain provisions of the EU treaties are not in accordance with the Polish constitutional system. Do you think this will affect the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union? What do you say about the developments in Poland, is this just part of the ongoing struggle for powers?
- Let's make it clear at the outset that this is not an isolated case, the German Constitutional Court made a similar decision last year. In any case, we fully support our Polish friends, which we confirmed last week in the form of a government decision, as we share the same position on this issue. The boundaries between national constitutions and EU law are clearly established in the basic treaties, and no one can cross them arbitrarily. We can only hope that the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union will shed light on this in connection with our joint lawsuit, since they want to take away powers from the member states that the member states never transferred to Brussels, even with the rule of law mechanism. So what is happening on the European stage is nothing more than the stealthy expansion of powers of the EU institutions. And if a member state, in this case Poland, remains vigilant and declares its incompatibility at the highest level, the Brussels bubble and the Western European elite immediately get angry and start a smear campaign. Sooner or later, however, they too will be forced to admit that the sovereignty of the member states cannot be tied up in knots.
- After the visit of the LIBE committee to Hungary, the head of the delegation, Gwendoline Delbos Corfield, spoke about the three clear expectations of the members of the European Parliament: that a rule of law procedure be launched against Hungary, that progress be made in the procedure according to article seven, and that the European Commission only with certain guarantees accept the Hungarian recovery plan. You also received the EP delegation, did the visit go so "badly"?
– What happened in Budapest was nothing more than a conversation with a European atmosphere with the LIBE tourists, who spent less than an hour getting to know our point of view. But if it turned out that way, we thought we would present them with a book that breaks down the genderless attacks against Hungary and the left-liberal perceptions into pieces and refutes them with legal arguments. Who knows, maybe someone was enlightened by it at least on the plane home. Regardless, of course, we had no illusions, we already knew before the visit that the verdict was in their bag. I note that one of the seven-person delegation had a law degree, and two were probably really conservative politicians. So much for impartiality and professionalism. As for next year's elections, we can say that the 2022 campaign has already begun in Brussels. The pro-immigration left will put more and more pressure on us in the coming period and, if necessary, will try to bring the government to its knees at the expense of the Hungarian people. However, we have bad news: we always protect Hungarian interests and values...
