An extraordinary press conference was held by the founding president of the Civil Solidarity Forum - Civil Solidarity Foundation. László Csizmadia explained the route the participants of the Peace March announced for October 23 will take.
"The cradle of the 1956 revolution was the University of Technology. It was from here in the early afternoon that the gathered young university students, who earned a few days of freedom for our people, together with the multitude of citizens who joined them, left. We remember them and especially the 235 innocent victims of the Soviet terror in Kadar and the nearly two hundred thousand compatriots who were driven from their homeland.
Our peace march starts in front of the University of Technology, gathering is possible from 1 p.m. Those arriving by bus can park on Budafoki út. Departure at 2 p.m. on the route Szabadság híd - Vámház körút - Károly körút - Erzsébet tér.
We want to demonstrate with a calm, peaceful and quiet unity that the terror in Gyurcsány took place 15 years ago, which punished peaceful people with horse tacks, gouging out eyes, broken bones, water cannons and viper stings.
Blood flowed again on the streets of Pest, democracy was mocked.
At 15:00 we arrive at the scene of the state ceremony, at the intersection of Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út - Andrássy út. It is an honor and a confirmation for the majority of citizens that the government placed the state ceremony at the end of the Peace March , and we can listen to the speech of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán
We see in this the principle of the sovereignty of the people and the call for further unity of the joint work of the past 12 years. The multitude of our peace march, together with the hundreds of Polish and Italian civilians accompanying us, would like to signal to the bureaucracy in Brussels that the people of the nations should not be ruled over, but rather served for them.
Come with us, we welcome everyone!"
