According to Slovak Foreign Minister Ivan Korčok, the Hungarian government has withdrawn its decision on the purchase of land in neighboring countries, Új Szó wrote.
They added: the head of the Foreign Affairs Ministry in Bratislava was informed by Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Korčok also said that the Hungarian government abandoned the plan to create the 400 million euro investment fund at the request of the Slovak side. It is known that Slovakia reacted with irritation to the plan to establish the Termőföld Private Capital Fund, with the help of which the Hungarian government wanted to buy agricultural land in regions beyond the border.
"Viktor Orbán sent a letter to Eduard Heger today, informing him of this decision," the Slovak Foreign Minister said. At the meeting of the V4 on Tuesday morning, the Hungarian Prime Minister personally informed the Slovak Prime Minister that, after their discussion on Monday, he decided to withdraw from the measure. Heger welcomed the Hungarian Prime Minister's decision and emphasized that the bilateral relations between Hungary and Slovakia are important to Viktor Orbán.
Regarding the land purchase plans of the Hungarian government, he complained that he did not find out about it through diplomatic channels, but from the press. At the same time, the Slovak foreign attorney indicated that he expects detailed answers from Péter Szijjártó on what kind of government subsidies for education and business promotion are coming from Hungary to Slovakia, as well as for what purpose Hungary bought Slovak monuments.
According to the report of Új Szó, the Slovak foreign minister emphasized the importance of the dialogue between the two states, and also expressed his joy that they have already managed to clarify certain issues. "At the same time, I confirm that it is in our interest to have a constructive dialogue on the topic of our common affairs about other things that concern us," Korčok added.
