At Szemlőhegy, the cap council decided to accept Klára Dobrev, to put it bluntly.
He was forced into so many public affairs that he could win the candidate competition in this field, and then we'll see. There is no risk. If he were to lose, DK would still be the biggest opposition factor, of which, in principle, Gyurcsány is the king, and the personal prestige of his lady would be undermined. But the initiative, the possibility of actual opposition decisions, according to them, would remain in the family anyway.
However, many within the opposition are not happy about this, or even very unhappy.
There are indeed one or two free-bird obsitos who, like an unwelcome provocateur, shout from behind the door that he really supports Dobrev. Such is the case with Gábor Demszky, but he can do it, his strength, we know that, is hardly his political talent.
On the other hand, his smarter former party members, after crying for Christmas with their crocodile tears, spectacularly line up behind Péter Márki-Zay. Guerrilla marketing (in its maiden name, whispering propaganda) is now whispering his name, yesterday's messiah can go into the soup.
Karácsony's lack of talent worsened day by day to such an extent that it would have been difficult to continuously manage him as a potential candidate until next spring. According to objective public opinion research, the proportion of opposition supporters has swung in favor of Márki-Zay since Christmas - in a single day(!) and, of course, it has been shown that he can win both Klára Dobrev and Viktor Orbán (figuratively) himself. to crumple under.
This is the fast career.
In him, the candidate from the countryside - but also experienced in America... - they see the "huge popular moment" (copyright Miklós Haraszti), who could open a new chapter in the history of our country. With this (if we still remember it) I would revive the old American wish that the MDF join forces with the SZDSZ so that they can control the country from the middle, which the late József Antall rejected with the polite firmness of "thank you very much, we don't ask". Now, however, it is more than revealing that Márki-Zay himself is not hiding it either: he has just such a streamlined intellectual-political alliance floating in front of his eyes, and he is the chosen person for this concept. I came from America, the emblem of my profession: prime minister - this would have been the jointly desired project, although of course it did not even beat Dobrev.
But there is still one minor factor missing: he does not have a significant party, which is a gift to the Gyurcsánys. Sooner or later, Jobbik, MSZP, LMP, and Párbeszéd may rank behind them, while MZP can rely only on the help of the liberal Momentum at home, if we do not count the one-man army of Karácsony. It is less likely that he could take the initiative out of the hands of the family. Like it, don't like it, it remains on the mountain - for now.
With the MZP, everything would be fine on paper, it has very interesting supporters, but then Uncle Hungarian Reality comes and scribbles the papers.
