"After the give-and-take of the past few days, Gergely Kárácsony and the left are starting to lose their credibility in front of their voters," said the analyst speaking on M1 about the primary election. According to him, the quarrels and side conversations seen in recent weeks destroyed the faith in the opposition even among committed left-wing voters. The credibility of the left is further damaged by the fact that while one day the opposition politicians are attacking each other, later they are already talking about their unbroken trust in each other. This is what Péter Márki-Zay did with Gergelly Karácsony on Saturday, M1 News reported.
" Gergely Karácsony discussed the termination of Fidesz and its voters " - at least this is what is clear from the short video released by Mandiner on Saturday afternoon. The recording was taken earlier at one of LMP's Schmuck Erzsébet's campaign events in Nagykáta.
"Let there be a constitutional peace in Hungary that requires the end of Fidesz as we know it now. Including those voters who now believe these politicians," the mayor declared.
It is not clear from the video how the mayor imagines this, but the co-chairman of the LMP did not distance himself from the statement either.
Gergely Karácsony announced his withdrawal from the opposition primaries last Friday, after a tug-of-war that lasted for several days.
On Monday of that week, they talked about a joint continuation with Péter Márki-Zay. After just 48 hours, he made a 180-degree turn and spoke about his refusal to give up his ambitions for the post of Prime Minister candidate.
And after another 48 hours, the world turned upside down again with Gergely Karácsony. At that time, he already announced his resignation. Gergely Karácsony has repeatedly been involved in controversy in recent months. Either with himself or with the facts.
He claimed he had a language test, then it turned out he didn't. Neither is his doctorate, which he displayed in his biography without authorization. A few days ago, he claimed that he was blackmailed by Ferenc Gyurcsány. After a short time he returned again.
"I would rather call these threats, which never came to anything. Well, I was the mayor of Zugló, you can't blackmail me with anything," said Gergely Karácsony.
And on Saturday, it turned out that
Márki-Zay may have changed his mind about his promise to Péter.
When he resigned, he said that he would take a week off to campaign for the mayor of Hódmezővásárhely. On Saturday, however, they waited in vain for Széll Kálmán tér.
Péter Márki Zay already told the M1 reporter in Szentendre that, despite all this, he trusts Gergely Karácsony more and more. According to analysts, Gergely Karácsony's political career has been revived. According to political scientist Béla Galló, the mayor has lost his former role on the left.
"He lost his credibility and the well-deserved trust placed in him even within his own camp. So, what the voters think about him has already been revealed quite often and I think it will be revealed in the next mayoral election as well," emphasized political scientist Béla Galló.
According to experts, research proves that the left-wing alliance has reached its maximum support and that the increasingly popular smaller parties - who were left out of the alliance, but may have a chance to enter the parliament separately - can win a significant amount of votes from the alliance led by Ferenc Gyurcsány.
