Below we publish the Facebook post of the mayor of Székelyudvarhely, Árpád Gálfi:

In a reply letter, I informed Mr. Péter Márki-Zay that we do not want to participate in the campaign of the opposition in the homeland.

"Dear residents of Székelyudvar!

As you may know from my previous post, Mr. Péter Márki-Zay, the mayor of Hódmezővásárhely and currently the prime ministerial candidate of the coalition of the Hungarian opposition, informed me through a colleague that he would also visit our city.

As the mayor of Székelyudvarhely, I am happy to host mayors from the Motherland or anywhere in the world, but Mr. Péter Márki-Zay as mayor has never once indicated his intention to visit Székelyföld. That is why I thought that he would make his current visit as the prime ministerial candidate of the opposition coalition, all the more so because they made a reference to this in the application letter.

Personally, I did not want to take part in the campaign to unify the Hungarian opposition in any way, while there is no doubt that Mr. Márki-Zay would have used this visit for campaign purposes.

In order not to make an arbitrary decision, two days ago, I asked the opinion of the people of Székelyudvar on several communication channels - including on my social media page.

Based on the vast majority of responses, we believe that Székelyudvarhely should not participate in any form in the campaign of Mr. Péter Márki-Zay and the opposition in the country.

In some of the articles published in this regard, the poetic question arose that "do you think that Gálfi does not want to maintain relations with the current government of Hungary, but only with the current Fidesz government?" There is some intentional slippage in this, since a candidate is not even remotely prime minister. I think that a Hungarian mayor from across the border should maintain a good relationship with the current Hungarian Government, but at the same time I do not think that we should participate in the campaign of the current opposition candidates. Do not confuse the candidates with the prime minister or members of the government. The two are not the same. And it would be extremely sad if a prime minister in Hungary, regardless of which side he represents, made the quality of his relationship with Hungarians across the border dependent on whether or not we participated in his previous campaign.

Thank you to everyone who answered my question.

I was sorry to note that after a while the comments section under my post became a dirty surface for hundreds of Hungarian "oppositionists" and since the comments were no longer about the question asked, and since the majority of the people from Székelyudvar did not express their opinions (and I was only asking them), I deleted the post. post at that time.

I would like to respectfully inform the residents of Székelyudvarhely that yesterday I informed Mr. Péter Márki-Zay (or his colleague through whom he communicated to me) in a reply letter that we do not want to participate in the campaign of the opposition in the country in any way."
