The National Electoral Office (NVI) notifies all voters without a Hungarian address by letter about the information related to postal voting, the board announced in a to Magyar Hírlaph on Tuesday.

This week, the National Electoral Office will start notifying the more than 770,000 voters without a Hungarian address. The Office contacts the recipients on the basis of legal authorization. They are the ones who - after successful registration - can vote by mail in the parliamentary elections (only for the national party list), as well as in any referendums and the subsequent European Parliament elections.

Based on their previous registration, more than 408,000 people are already listed in the central directory. For them, the NVI recommends in the letter that they do not forget to report if their data has changed since their registration (for example, they have moved). In parallel, the NVI is also writing to those who have not yet registered (about 360,000 people): they will receive detailed information on how to register.

The Office sends more than 160,000 of the notifications by email. Four years earlier, before the last parliamentary elections, the NVI contacted voters without a Hungarian address by letter. At that time, the National Election Office sent out a total of more than 650,000 notices.

Voters who do not have a residential address in Hungary can participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections if they request their inclusion in the central register from the National Elections Office by the 25th day before the vote. It is important that successful registration alone is valid for ten years. If the voter casts his/her postal vote, changes his or her data or requests an extension of his/her registration, the registration will remain valid for another ten years.

The number of people registered for postal voting is data of public interest that is updated daily. The exact development of this can be followed on the valasztas.hu website.
