The work of the Regőczi Foundation, established to help orphans of the coronavirus, is supported by the 10th jubilee It's Good to Be Good! charity campaign.
The goal of the Regőczi Foundation, established this year, is to provide long-term and personalized care for children orphaned during the coronavirus epidemic - said the Regőczi Foundation and the MTVA It's good to be good! at the press conference of his charity campaign on Saturday.
János Áder , founder of the Regőczi Foundation, highlighted: in recent months, despite the utmost care and protection, tragedies have occurred in many families, and many children have become orphans. "That's why we founded the Regőczi Foundation, to help them"... The President of the Republic said: it is a tradition that he and his wife donate an item to the show's auction every year. This year it is a silver plate, which he received from the President of Egypt during his recent visit to Hungary.
Anita Herczegh , the wife of the president of the republic, the chairman of the board of trustees of the Regőczi Foundation, emphasized: the whole country was moved, many people supported the work of the foundation. The foundation has contacted 932 children so far, of which 629 have already been supported. This year, a one-time larger amount was transferred, and the system of monthly subsidies will be introduced from the following year. So far, HUF 140 million have been distributed among the children, a positive decision has already been made in the case of another 85 children, and another HUF 11,800,000 will be distributed. He emphasized: they strive to ensure that the support reaches those most in need, so that the money can be distributed fairly.
The wife of the President of the Republic visited families where one or both parents died as a result of the Covid-19 disease caused by the new type of coronavirus. These visits are upsetting, but without exception everyone stressed that they received a lot of help from those around them, he said, adding: everyone reported how good it feels to live without letting go of their hand. This gives them enormous strength, and it also moves the strength within them to feel that they are not alone - said the wife of the president of the republic, emphasizing that the foundation also wants to provide them with this security. "God grant that there will be no more Covid-orphans," concluded Anita Herczegh.
...At the event, Tímea Nagy, two-time Olympic champion duelist fencer, offered for auction the gold medal of the world championship team won in Essen in 1993. Áron Szilágyi offered the helmet in which he fought at the Tokyo Olympics and helped him win his third gold medal. As he said, he hopes that the support received from this will be able to help a Covid orphan on his further life's journey.
