The Pride movement, the flagship of the LGBTQ movement, was forced to suspend its activities in a large East Coast American city.
The LGBTQ+, feminist and anti-racist (actually anti-white racist) groups in America, which are still fighting shoulder to shoulder, are already enthusiastically "killing" each other in order to gain and keep the position of the "vanguard". The BLM movement has come to the forefront in the last two years because the "you are not black" card seems to carry everything. It seems that race is stronger than sexual orientation. The Pride movement, the flagship of the LGBTQ movement, was forced to suspend its activities in a large East Coast American city.
The answer to the why is not some kind of ultra-conservative local government's mine work, but the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement, which simply displaced the mainstream of the gay movement with its newer, even stronger references to victims. The ideological root of the debate was the fact that in 2015 the US Constitutional Court voted to legalize gay marriage at the federal level. This was welcomed by the social justice movement with great celebration, but the BLM, which was starting up at the time to fight for racial equality, reacted hostilely, since in this way the gay movement achieved one of its most important goals, and thus, according to their interpretation, it became a privileged group from a disenfranchised group. The author of the article notes that the most important base of Pride in Boston was the white, upper-middle-class gays , so the victory of the local BLM and the "QTBIPOC" (queer, trans, black, indigenous, colored) activist coalition gathered behind them was attributed to the victory of the gays by the white saw it as further evidence of superiority and demanded that they use their success and recognition to promote and support members of the new movement representing groups they believed to be disadvantaged. At the same time, however, they began to attack everything that had previously been the Pride's local base and strength.
They have criticized the fact that Pride is held in the affluent inner city rather than the suburbs - which they say is a sign of racism. An important part of the success of the local Pride was that it established good relations with the city authorities and professional organizations. The BLM coalition challenged this as well, saying that the police have no place in the movement for social justice, as they are a tool to oppress black people.
Pro-BLM groups announced a boycott of the events, demanding the full resignation of the organizing committee. On June 9, the chairman of the Pride organizing committee finally resigned, and the parades were postponed indefinitely.
