The comedian blacklisted himself from Cambridge's oldest debating club before anyone else did.
Comedian John Cleese canceled his appearance at an event at the Cambridge Union because of the woke rules, the Guardian reports.
The member of the legendary Monty Python made this decision after the debating club of the famous British university forbade art critic Andrew Graham-Dixon to speak at their event because Graham-Dixon had once played the role of Adolf Hitler. Cleese made this decision citing the fact that he also played the role of the Nazi dictator in a Monty Python sketch.
"I would have been happy to speak to Cambridge Union students on Friday, but I hear someone has been blacklisted for a Hitler role"
Cleese stated.
"I'm really sorry I did that on a Monty Python show, so I'm blacklisting myself before anyone else does"
the comedian continued.
The leader of the debating club is very sorry that Cleese made this decision. In addition, John Cleese is filming a documentary about the woke culture, and he would have visited the Cambridge Union as part of this work.
