The number of vaccinated people is 6,017,807, of which 5,788,775 have already received their second vaccination, and 1 million 765 thousand have already received their third vaccination. 11,289 new infected people were confirmed, increasing the total number of identified infected people to 998,488 since the beginning of the epidemic. Most of the 135 people who died were elderly and chronically ill, so the number of people who died rose to 32,780. The number of people who have recovered is constantly increasing, currently 837,584 people, and the number of active infected people has risen to 128,124 people. 6,122 coronavirus patients are being treated in hospital, 613 of them are on ventilators. In order to curb the fourth wave of the coronavirus epidemic, the wearing of masks in closed spaces, which was customary in the first half of the year, will return from Saturday, and it is mandatory for healthcare workers to take the third booster vaccination. On Kossuth Radio, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán again asked the unvaccinated to get vaccinated: "we are up to our necks in the fourth wave, everyone will catch the virus, but it doesn't matter what the consequences will be. Those who are not vaccinated are in danger," he said.
The latest legislation on protection measures has been published. In addition to healthcare institutions and public transport, masks must be worn again from Saturday in shops, shopping centers, post offices, customer services, theaters, cinemas, museums and sports events. At indoor cultural and other events, gyms, swimming pools, spas, and catering establishments, the use of masks is mandatory for those working there. In nurseries, kindergartens and schools, principals and rectors in higher education institutions, and employers in other workplaces can determine the rules for wearing masks. In order to protect healthcare workers and patients, as well as ensure uninterrupted patient care, it is mandatory for healthcare workers to receive their third booster vaccination by December 10, if 180 days have already passed since their previous vaccination.
