At its extraordinary meeting on Monday, the city council accepted the feasibility study of the Cluj-Napoca subway. According to the document, the investment will be completed within 128 months, its cost will exceed two billion euros, the exact amount including VAT is 2,052,196,984 euros, the office of Deputy Mayor Oláh Emese announced.

The metro line will be 21.03 kilometers long and will connect Szászfenes with the end of Szentgyörgyhegyi/Muncii út, touching Főtér and Mărăști tér. The metro line will be 6.3 kilometers long in Szászfenes and 14.7 kilometers long in Cluj.

The 19 stops and the depot in Szászfenes in Șesului de Sus Street, Teilor Street, around Eroilor Street, Abatorului Street, near the Szaszfenes Barracks, the Regional Emergency Hospital to be built and Răzoare Street, then in Cluj-Napoca on Szent János, Kalányos út /Primăverii utca, Monostori utca, Mócok utca, Unió/Memorandumului utca, Főtér, Magyar utca/B-dul 21 decembrie 1989, Bocskai/Avram Iancu tér, back to Magyar utca, Mărăști tér, Szamosfalvi It will be built on /Aurel Vlaicu út, Bodza-szoros/Beiușului utca, Szentgyörgyhegyi/Muncii útca, and Szopori út.

The subway trains would run with 3 cars every 90 seconds, so they could transport a maximum of 21,600 people per hour. After Mărăști tér, the metro branches in two, one branch goes to Szentgyörgyhegyi út, and the other branch goes to Szopor.

The first stage of the 128 months planned for the implementation of the project, the preliminary planning period between May 2020 and October 2021, has already passed, the bidding period lasts until December next year, and the construction will take 96 months.

The project is financed by EU funds, government funds from the Ministry of Transport, and the municipalities of Szászfenes and Cluj-Napoca through the large infrastructural investments program, the transport operational program and the national recovery plan.
