The left-wing political correctness of the American judicial system led to the weekend tragedy in Waukesha, reads the commentary published the other day on the conservative Tichys Einblick portal.
On Sunday, Darrell E. Brooks drove his SUV to the Christmas parade in a town in Wisconsin, killing five people and injuring forty-eight, including many small children. The article mentions that the perpetrator tried to run over a mother with her child once this month.
Two days before Sunday's rampage, he was released by the court on $1,000 bail, at the suggestion of Democratic prosecutor John T. Chisholm. Authorities have dealt with Brooks' cases in the past, releasing him on bail or not charging him with charges including domestic violence, assault and vandalism. The author of the article asks whether these are all just anomalies of state operation.
According to Sebastian Thormann, no, because Chisholm is a determined supporter of a program called judicial reform in the United States. This was intended to redress the "racial imbalance" in the justice system, meaning that more blacks than whites are in prison. Chisholm previously said that the effectiveness of prosecutors' work should also be judged by how much they have done to achieve racial equality.
