Fidesz faction leader Máté Kocsis stated at the conference entitled "The next thousand years for children" of the Center for Fundamental Rights, the Lajos Batthyány Foundation and the Szent István Institute: Hungary is one of those countries where the future of children is considered a matter of destiny, and where, as a result, more and more liberal media and social media retorts.
"We consider the issue of child protection to be a crucial issue affecting the future, disturbing many parents, and a socially fundamental issue, for which our political community will stand to the very end," he emphasized, and then added: he is convinced that they are on the right path.
Referring to LGBTQ propaganda and gender ideology, he said: this fast-spreading international trend is mobilizing great forces to weaken the institution of the family, to break down the cohesive forces of society and to question the evidence. The representatives of the movement now aim to reshape the thinking of children at the most sensitive age - Máté Kocsis pointed out, according to whom it is no longer about freedom, but about restricting the freedom of others and suppressing different viewpoints.
He put it this way: "in the absence of blood heirs, they are trying to raise ideological heirs for the LGBTQ movement." Among other warning signs, he listed the fact that children in Scotland can choose their gender and name without parental consent from the age of four.
Drawing parallels with the past, Máté Kocsis noted at this point that the fall of the Roman Empire was caused by family ties, "the loosening of respect within the family and the parent-child relationship". According to his words, the phenomenon has already invaded Hungary and is demanding more and more space for itself, the debate is intensifying at the same time because many people think that sexual propaganda has "crossed the red line".
As examples, he mentioned sex education classes in kindergartens and schools, sexually oriented storybooks written for the youngest children, and the intention to leave parents out of the education of their own children. The LGBTQ movement upended the consensus that "sexuality has nothing to do with childhood in any context, in any form," he declared.
Máté Kocsis stated that the starting point of their answers to this is the Basic Law, which protects, among other things, the right of children to self-identity according to their birth gender. "We admit that parents have prerogatives" regarding the education of their own children, he emphasized, and then indicated that leftists and liberals either do not trust parents or see them as an obstacle.
Speaking about the results of the anti-pedophile and child protection law package, he announced: pedophiles can no longer hide, their searchable register will be available from February 1, 2022; they amended the facts of child pornography, which now falls under the same judgment as murder, the possibility of parole was excluded for the most serious pedophile crimes, and they do not expire, and the professions subject to occupational bans were expanded.
The Child Protection Act has strengthened the rights of parents, and it is forbidden to make available to children content that portrays sexuality for its own purposes and promotes deviation from the self-identity corresponding to the birth sex, gender reassignment, and homosexuality, the faction leader of the ruling party listed. "Contrary to all false claims, the law is only about children," he stated.
Máté Kocsis also drew attention to the fact that a referendum will be held on child protection and parents' rights, at which people can express their opinion.
