The Kútvölgyi Tower will be renovated, where the medical institutions can be moved during the construction of the Szent János hospital - said Balázs Fürjes, the State Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office responsible for the development of Budapest and the metropolitan agglomeration, in a video published on his Facebook page on Thursday morning.
The complete external reconstruction of the Kútvölgy tower covers 11,000 square meters, there will be brand new insulation, facade, doors and windows, air conditioners, and the interior renovation is already starting on seven levels. The government allocated HUF 5 billion for this, and it is expected to be completed by the fall of 2022. The renovated emergency department, internal medicine, surgery, intensive care, urology, 250 patient beds and five operating theaters will be able to provide inpatient care for the people of Buda, said the state secretary.
This is mainly necessary so that when the new 80,000 square meter modern hospital block is built in the area of the Szent János hospital, the inpatient care of the people of Buda can be uninterrupted, and the healing work that is currently taking place in the Szent János hospital can continue. Thus, for the duration of the investment, they can move from the Szent János hospital to the Kútvölgy tower, which will be completed by then, added Balázs Fürjes.
Csaba Gór, the Fidesz president of the 4th electoral district of Budapest, said in the video: Budapest's fourth center hospital will be established as the successor of the Szent János hospital. "We are working to ensure that all citizens of Budapest can receive continuous and secure healthcare," added the government politician.
